Gregory Jones, Executive Director

          Gregory Jones is the Executive Director of Economic Development South – a non-profit community development corporation representing the Brentwood, Whitehall, and Baldwin communities of Allegheny County. In his role as executive director, Mr. Jones works to facilitate investment and reinvestment, create jobs, enhance the competitiveness of the area, and to take a comprehensive approach to the revitalization of the corridor and work with all of the corridor communities to identify and address shared concerns and opportunities.

          Mr. Jones has been director of Economic Development South since January 2011. Prior to this, he was a senior project manager at the Northside Leadership Conference – a non-profit community development corporation representing the neighborhoods of Pittsburgh’s historic northside. Mr. Jones has also worked as an economic development and public-private partnership consultant for a leading national firm, where he focused on real estate development market demand analysis, economic and fiscal impact analysis, transit-oriented development (TOD) analysis, and development project market feasibility.

          Mr. Jones holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in regional planning from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

          Greg, his wife Beth, and their two children, Eloise and Rex, live in the Brighton Heights neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh.

Stephanie Miller, Manager of Projects & Initiatives

          Stephanie Miller joined Economic Development South as the Manager of Projects & Initiatives in August 2012. Ms. Miller will work with the executive director on projects and initiatives related to the revitalization of the Corridor Communities of Baldwin, Brentwood, Whitehall, Carrick, and Overbrook and will work to address shared concerns and opportunities.

          Prior to joining EDS, Ms. Miller worked as a Community Development Consultant for the South Pittsburgh Neighborhoods of Beechview and Brookline working on project related to community and economic development. Concurrently, Ms. Miller was also the Business Development Director/Main Street Manager and Elm Street Manager for the Northside Leadership Conference for three business districts in the Northside neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. Ms. Miller also brings a wealth of experience from the cultural and performing arts sector where she spent 10 years working in organizational management, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach.

          Ms. Miller holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Hood College and a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and International Urbanism from the University of Pittsburgh.

          Ms. Miller grew up in the South Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Mt. Oliver and Carrick. Ms. Miller and her husband reside in the abutting South Pittsburgh neighborhood of Brookline.

Helen Sharrer, Administrative Assistant

Helen Sharrer joined Economic Development South on May 1, 2012 as part-time Administrative Assistant. Helen assists and supports the Executive Director and the Manager of Projects & Initiatives including managing day-to-day office activities.

Prior to joining EDS, Helen worked for Reunion Industries for 20 years at the downtown corporate office. Reunion Industries was comprised of several small manufacturing companies located throughout the United States. Her role at the corporate office involved executive and administrative duties and support for the President and CFO, along with processing payroll, accounts payable as well as negotiating business contracts for the company.

Helen and her husband, Merle, have two children living in Virginia and Maryland and have been residents of Brentwood for over 40 years.
